Day 3 Bangkok
After posting the blog yesterday, it became a very difficult day.
Nanda and I decided that instead of going through a travel agency, we would go to the train station directly to book our overnight train. Unfortunately, we got to the station and found that there were NO seats available until Saturday afternoon, and that is the 3rd class. We wanted to book a 1st class overnight sleeper car, but 3rd class would be 12 hours in an non-air conditioned train. The earliest we could get out was going to be after Nanda's Thai massage classes start, so we decided to fly. We were directed to a travel agency in the station (how convenient!) and we booked our flights for Chiang Mai (1 hr flight) for Saturday night. Our wonderful travel agent (she is so spunky I loved her) recommended a lovely hotel for the next two nights in Bangkok, complete with a swimming pool, air conditioning and a fridge for $30/nt. We decided to splurge and take it. Well, the place is just fine but none of the tuk tuk drivers nor cab drivers have any idea where it is, but we are committed here for 2 nights.
Anyway, we got to the hotel in one piece (but I now definitely dislike tuk tuk drivers) and decided to head out to La Rueda in Sikumvit for some salsa dancing. Sikumvit is the expat community in Bangkok, complete with lots of embassies and mid- to upper-range hotels where lots of foreign business travelers can stay. Juan from Colombia was spinning some latin tunes and I got SO EXCITED! I danced with an African guy from Paris, a business traveler from Colombia and a guy from Peru. How international!

Sorry to hear about your rough day. But like you've said before, not even a tiring day can keep you away from Salsa dancing! Hope you are taking some really nice pictures of your travels. Can't wait to see them.
